Narrated by one of the most popular British actors, Sean Bean, Kholat is an exploration adventure game with elements of horror, inspired by a true event known as the Dyatlov Pass incident – a mysterious death of nine Russian hikers, which led to countless, unconfirmed hypotheses. The player will plunge directly into the boundless scenery of the inhospitable Ural Mountains with the task to find out what really happened. In the course of events, you may come across more speculations than expected…
Around the year of 1990, 9 Russian hikers were found dead on Dyatlov Pass. Their bodies consisted of internal damages, fractured skulls, bites, scratches and markings of physical trauma. Now here’s the catch. A corpse was found with a fractured skull but no signs of struggle. Another body had internal bleeding and damage but no indications of physical damage. 2 hikers’ corpse were found with scratching near the trees indicating that they had tried to climb the tree in a sudden panic. Mysteries everywhere. And you… You’re gonna uncover it for us. Aren’t you?
I’ll be honest with you. There isn’t much to do in Kholat except run around and traverse the rocky terrains of the snowy mountain, that is, Dyatlov Pass. Although Kholat possesses an intriguing story line and excellent graphics and sound effects, there isn’t much to do. Also, did i mention that you’ve got to navigate with a compass and a map. That’s it. A compass, a map and you with whatever it is out there that killed those campers.
As you traverse the terrain of the deadly mountain pass, you’ll occasionally experience supernatural phenomenons and find logs of a mysterious person’s diary. Eventually, you’ll uncover what happened to those hikers. But that’s not what we’re asking is it? that’s not the million dollar question. The million dollar question is… Can you make it back alive?
