Much to the delight of many ‘Destiny‘ fans, representatives of ‘Bungie‘ and ‘Activision‘ announced that they would end their eight-year partnership and moving forward alone. Along with the partnership, ‘Bungie‘ will retain all the rights to the ‘Destiny‘ game and all DLC’s alike.
More on the Split
The statement below pretty much confirms what everyone wanted to happen. For months and years, ‘Destiny‘ fans were begging ‘Bungie‘ to take their game to another publishing house, another “better” publishing house as some of them put it. Working programmers 60 to 80 hours a week without overtime, overpriced cosmetic and “pay-to-win” items, and ‘shady’ business practices have made ‘Activision‘ the number 2 on the “most hated game publishing and development company.”
Today, we’re announcing plans for ‘Bungie‘ to assume full publishing rights and responsibilities for the Destiny franchise. Going forward, ‘Bungie‘ will own and develop the franchise, and ‘Activision‘ will increase its focus on owned IP and other projects. ‘Activision‘ and ‘Bungie‘ are committed to a seamless transition for the Destiny franchise and will continue to work closely together during the transition on behalf of the community of ‘Destiny‘ players around the world.
The Fans Rejoice
For most of the ‘Destiny‘ fans, they rejoiced. For months they wanted ‘Bungie‘ to take their business elsewhere. To find a better publishing option. And finally, after months and even years of nagging, they’ve finally got what they wanted, and they’re happy about it. They took to ‘Twitter,’ ‘Instagram,‘ and even social media app ‘9gag‘ to voice their opinions and concerns.
Delighted for’Bungie.‘ Honestly, that 10-year deal left a bad taste in my mouth from the moment I first read about it. Hopefully, this means they can now create the game they want. It’s time to forget about these big-budget partnerships and build success with their community.

After the initial split, fans were overjoyed to hear that their ‘Destiny‘ has so many paths to choose from. Some fans fear for the future of the game, claiming that an indie title such as ‘Destiny‘ will not have the publishing support of a large company such as ‘Activision.‘ Others disagree, stating that finding another publishing company would be a breeze considering how famous and sought-after ‘Destiny‘ and it’s related DLC’s are.
